With the changes to the Parental Leave Act as of April 1, 2016, all workers who complete the work test described on the IRD website are entitled to 22 weeks of parental leave allowance, whether or not they are able to take leave. This means that teachers who lighten the burden in the short term or who work on a temporary basis and who meet the working conditions are now entitled to the full 22 weeks. However, the right to sick leave is based on the benefit and is allocated in two ways: inquire about salary, allowances, leave and other rights for support staff. Tasks performed by support staff include assistance to the teacher, personal assistant, librarian, chief civil servant and general office work. If you are a member of the NZEI, read the corresponding part of your collective agreement. Article 1.3 of the employment contract lists all types of school tasks that are not covered. This agreement therefore essentially covers all other types of work in schools and probably means that you work directly or indirectly with teachers and students to help them, or your job will be secretariat, finance, staff or property management.
Leave can be taken at any time during pregnancy, as long as you send a month in writing to the board of directors (with a medical certificate confirming the pregnancy). They should contact the IRD to discuss simultaneously the possible tax consequences of maternity and paid parental leave benefits. If you have unpaid parental leave during a school year, your leave allowance (an adjustment to the leave allowance) will be reduced based on the total number of days without pay this year. You can also take advantage of schedule B leave. At the beginning of the service periods, you are entitled to sick leave periods in accordance with Table A of Part 4.1.3. Example: Maternity allowance is not paid if you have not submitted a medical certificate of confirmation of pregnancy before the start of the leave or resignation. You must apply to Novopay via form NOVO 27 through your school wage manager. A copy of your child`s birth certificate (certified as the original has been identified) must also be attached to this application. You must ensure that you have provided proof of pregnancy at the time of your application for maternity leave. Parental leave is in part in accordance with the provisions of the Parental Protection and Employment Protection Act 1987, which allows eligible members of: your collective agreement guarantees your salary and conditions.
